I had a bit of a waffle about Paavoharju a few weeks ago, and I've since neglected to mention how ace Laulu Laakson Kukista is.
From twisted Bhangra-tinged Europop to weary folk, often in the same song, Laulu Laakson Kukista is swathed in grainy fuzz, recalling the notion of musical artefacts of a post-apocalyptic future. Through all the crackle and hiss, the songs shine through, brightly glimmering particles amongst the nuclear ash. Paavoharju evoke extraordinary imagery with their unconventional approach to songwriting and production.
