Remember how I really like Delia Derbyshire? I'm very excited about this news:
Now, academics at Manchester University's School of Arts, Histories and Cultures revealed a discovery of 267 tapes found in Derbyshire's attic following her death. As examined here and here, Derbyshire's tapes include everything from bizarre sound effects to complete original compositions. Throughout the archives, she remains dry and self-deprecating to the tune of the charming, dead-pan 60s pop British tradition coined by The Beatles.
After examining the contents of her archive tapes, the academics are discussing presenting them in an aural exhibition for both in-person visitors and online fans.
Brilliant.
